Nanya ramps DDR memory shipments in exclusive promotion with Kingston ValueRAM

SAN JOSE, Calif. March 20, 2001 On the heels of the recently announced OEM manufacturing and sales partnership with Kingstona Technology Company, Inc., Nanyaa Technology has announced an exclusive sales promotion with Kingston Technology’s ValueRAM division on higher performance PC2100 or 266MHz DDR memory modules. PC1600 or 200MHz DDR memory modules are also available as part of this promotion. 128MB and 256MB PC2100 or PC1600 memory modules can be ordered through Kingston’s ValueRAM sales offices in the U.S., Europe, and Far East starting Monday, March 26, 2001.

This special promotion will increase availability of PC2100 and PC1600 DIMMs manufactured by Kingston using Nanya’s DDR memory chips. These DDR modules are offered to OEMs, motherboard manufacturers, system manufacturers, and other volume customers. In quantity, U.S. prices start at $55 for the 128MB PC1600 Unbuffered DIMM and $79 for the 128MB PC2100 Unbuffered DIMM.

“One of the major constraints to the ramp-up of DDR platforms by the PC industry has been the shortage of affordable PC1600 and PC2100 memory modules,” said Ken Hurley, president of Nanya North America and Europe. “With this special program, we will increase global availability of competitively-priced DDR modules to support the transition from PC133 SDRAM to the higher-performance DDR SDRAM.”

“Kingston’s ValueRAM division is the fastest growing supplier of memory products to system builders, and our customers are already in need of DDR memory modules in quantity,” said Al Soni, vice president, strategic alliances, Kingston. “Through this exclusive promotion with Nanya, ValueRAM will support industry partners in ramping up their sales of DDR platforms to end customers.”
