July 1st 2024 – Nanya Technology ("Nanya"), together with its supplier Formosa Advanced Technology Corporation ("FATC"), announced to sign a 10-year renewable energy joint purchase agreement with Sustainable Energy Solution Corporation, a subsidiary of Sino-American Silicon Products Inc. The joint procurement will allow Nanya to purchase a total of 250 million kWh of renewable energy and FATC to purchase 150 million kWh of renewable energy.
"Together with FATC, this collaboration represents Nanya's concrete step towards the green manufacturing and sustainable supply chain. We look forward to more opportunities of collaboration to foster a low-carbon supply chain," said President of Nanya, Dr Pei-Ing Lee.
Nanya is committed to achieving its SBTi-approved targets1, aiming to reduce our Scope 1 and Scope 2 GHG emissions by 25% and Scope 3 by 27% in 2030. In 2022, the Company signed its first 10-year agreement to purchase a total of 250 million kWh green electricity. Along with the joint procurement in 2024, Nanya's consumption of renewable energy will amount to 50 million kWh every year, equivalent to reducing approximately 25,000 tons of carbon emissions per year2.
Integrating suppliers' resources and efforts has been a strategic focus for Nanya. In 2023, the Company launched a carbon reduction project with 10 suppliers with the support of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Taiwan. In 2024, the Company took a further step with FATC to accelerate green energy adoption, which marks another important milestone to achieve the goal of clean energy transitions for the supply chain.
