Nanya Technology Named to the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index
Ranked No. 1 among the global memory industry

Nanya Technology Corporation (Ticker: 2408) has been selected for the first time in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) semiconductor and equipment category with excellent results.

The DJSI World selection is based on the companies' S&P Global ESG Score resulting from the annual S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). Nanya Technology has received 9 full score among 23 categories in the Semiconductors and Semiconductor Equipment Industry Group, including Innovation Management, Materiality, Policy Influence, Environmental Policy & Management Systems, Product Quality & Recall Management, Environmental Reporting, Product Stewardship, Corporate Citizenship & Philanthropy, and Social Reporting.

Nanya have introduced advanced and high-efficient eco-friendly products to optimize energy-saving capabilities and create economic values. The company’s eco-friendly products accounted for 84% of its revenue in 2020, saving up to 658.48 million kWh of electricity for our customers. Furthermore, Nanya will launch next-generation DDR5 and LPDDR5 products with its self-develop 10nm-class DRAM process technology. These new products will enable the average power consumption to further reduce 16~35% while doubling the bandwidth.

In response to the global carbon reduction trend, Nanya formally signed the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) initiative in 2021 and formulated a five-year renewable energy strategy as we continue to make efforts toward RE100 initiatives and the Science-Based Targets. Our process perfluorocarbons (PFC) reduction rate from 2017 to 2020 have reached a minimum of 93%, reducing a total of 2,052,666 ton-CO2e GHG emissions, equivalent to 5,251 times of Daan Forest Park’s carbon absorption in a year. Nanya has developed a total of 60 artificial intelligent (AI) applications by 2020, which have improved our manufacturing efficiency, by enhancing product yield and quality, increasing machine utilization, while reducing equipment maintenance costs and raw material and energy consumption. We have achieved annual saving of NT$ 300 million and expected to reach NT$1.8 billion in the next five years. We have invested over NT$3.0 billion for process water recovery, which have greatly improved our water resources efficiency by reaching 95% recovery rate.

“Nanya have responded to COVID pandemics, and worldwide political and economic turbulence, with its proactive operational strategy to minimize external impacts. In 2021, Nanya have entered its 9th consecutive profitable years. To further improve our competitiveness, we have focused on research and development, design, and all operational efficiency for our Dynamic Random Access Memory (DRAM) business. We will continue to drive economic growth with innovation and intellectual property right development. Meanwhile, we will actively engage in the environment and social responsibility for our path toward ESG sustainability” said Nanya Technology’s President, Dr. Pei-Ing Lee.
